LEGO ROBOTICS EXPLORATION (Beginner Level 1, 9 – 13 yrs .old)
This fun and exciting class is ideal for beginners. Students will be building and programming robots using a variety of LEGO® Mindstorms™ kits. Working in pairs using LEGO blocks, gears, motors and sensors, students will learn the basics of building and programming. Students will learn mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork skills while sharing a robotics kit and computer. Students will have an opportunity to try different LEGO systems such as the Simple Machines kit, WeDo kit and NXT kit to learn the basics in gears, levers, pulleys, engineering design and programming with a computer to teach their robots to move, react, and make sounds to solve daily challenges. This class is excellent for students who have no robotic experience as it allows them an opportunity to explore and experiment with new concepts. This class is good preparation for students interested in learning robotics as it sets the foundation and prepares them for more advanced topics. Students who take this class always perform better in advanced classes. Parents will be invited to view various game activities. No previous experience is required.
